Charity Spots

Recently I read that a former contestant on the biggest loser received a charity spot at Kona. (That’s the BIG triathlon in Hawaii). A lot of triathletes posted their outrage about charity spots given away at elite races. A lot of people also pointed out that this charity spot recipient finished BEFORE hundreds of elite athletes who qualified for the race.

Yesterday I overheard a conversation about charity spots at the Boston Marathon. Personally I think charity spots don’t belong at elite events like Boston or Kona. (Though I’ll probably never qualify for events like that anyways, so my opinion is admitedly moot.) Share your opinion!
